Search performance, defined as the time ViaWorks Locator takes to present the search results in the web client, can be impacted based on the number of words found within documents, that are shown highlighted within the search summary displayed on the search results page.  

The default ViaWorks Locator configuration can be changed to minimize the performance impact from highlighting.  Specific fields can be removed from the list of fields that will be highlighted, thus reducing the time it takes to display the search results.  Administrators should only change the default settings if it is believed that highlighting is causing a significant impact to search performance.
