An enterprise search engine is a search engine typically used by an organization to make data stored within the organization searchable for their staff and/or clients. This is different from for instance an Internet search engine used to search for information on the Internet.
Search has a large number of enterprise connectors
A connector is a software component that specializes in retrieving data from a specific type of a data source. Search can handle a large number of data formats
Search uses converters to transform data from the data’s original format (for instance a pdf or a word document) to pure text before processing the data further.
