Agent - Sources and Resources panel
Key Concepts
Sources – External systems Agent can query for information (for example, web search, indexes, or MCP tools).
Resources – Files you have uploaded to Agent (such as documents and spreadsheets) and File Groups you’ve created from them.
File Groups – Named collections of related Resources that can be selected as a unit.
Overview
The panel on the right side of the screen lists your external Sources, uploaded files, and File Groups, and lets you control which of these Agent can use as context for the current chat. You can:
Collapse or expand the panel – Collapse it for a clearer layout; expand it when you need to adjust context.
Select or deselect items – Use the checkboxes to control what Agent can use as context for the current conversation.
Upload new files – Drag and drop supported files into the panel to upload them to Agent as Resources.

Sources
Here you can toggle which Sources are used as context.
Clicking the
⋮button will open a menu where you can manage Sources and add new ones - please refer to Agent - Managing Sources for details.Selecting Sources with individual files is not possible.
Sources as an additional context to the model. Model may or may not use selected sources if it decided he does not need to in order to provide the answer.
Resource Selection
Use the checkboxes to select Resources and File Groups.
If a single Resource is selected, its name appears in the input field.
If multiple Resources are selected, the input field shows the number of selected items.
Groups can be expanded; their state reflects whether all, some, or none of their Resources are selected.
Click the X button next to the number of selected items to clear the current selection.
Selecting individual files or groups with Sources it not possible.
When individual files or groups are selected, model will always try to search in them for information.
Resources as Source
Enable toggle in order to use all resources as a Source. This enables combining both Sources and Resources in a single chat.
If enabled, you can’t select individual files, all files act as a Source. This allows model to search in uploaded files for a required information.
Model may skip searching in files if it decides that it does not need any additional data to provide the answer.
If enabled “resources” name appears in the input field.
Sorting Options
Use the sort menu to order Resources by title, upload date, or how recently they were used in previous chats.
Search Resources
Click Search Resources to open the search dialog.
After you enter a search term, only items whose names match the term will be shown, with matching fragments highlighted in bold.
Items whose names start with your search term appear first, followed by those that contain it elsewhere.
Selecting a Resource from the results adds it to the chat and updates the view.
Multiple Source and Resource Selection
Users can select and use multiple Sources and Resource within a single chat. This allows Agent to combine information from different external systems and uploaded files for richer, more comprehensive responses.
When multiple compatible Sources are selected, they work together to provide context for the Agent’s responses.
Enabling individual Resources with Sources it not available. To use both uploaded files and Sources at the same time, “Resources as source” needs to be toggled.
Your choice of model may affect how many Sources can be used at once. Each Source exposes Tools to the model, and some older models (such as GPT‑4o) may struggle with a larger number of Tools. If you see issues with multiple Sources selected, try using a newer model or reducing the number of active Sources.
