Why can't I find documents in my Microsoft Exchange mailbox when searching in Locator ?

Although there can be other reasons why documents are not found when performing a Locator search, one reason may be due to the fact that the index user did not have permission to access the data source.

If the user account used to establish the Microsoft Exchange connection (also referred to as the "index user") does not have permission to index a mailbox, the owner of that mailbox will not be able to find documents in that mailbox when using the Locator search. This behavior is by design and is to be expected.  However, in may not be clear from the error messages found in the Locator log files as to why the documents were not found. 

If such an issue is suspected, please consult your Locator administrator to assist in resolving the issue.
