Why can't I find documents from the File Server connection using Locator SharePoint Integration?

You have established the following connections using the Locator Management Dashboard:

Microsoft Exchange
Microsoft SharePoint
File Server

...and have successfully setup the Locator SharePoint Integration. However, when you perform a search, the results include documents from both Exchange and SharePoint, but include no documents from the File Server. What could be the problem?

First, you need to verify that the File Server documents have successfully been indexed. From the Locator search page (not the integrated SharePoint search), does the search return hits from the File Server?

If NO, then the problem may be with the permissions of the index user specified in the File Server connection. Check to make sure the index user has permission to access the files on the file server.
If YES, verify the user account performing the search (on computer A) is a member of the network domain and not just a local user on the File Server where the documents reside (computer B). If the user is not a member of the domain, your network administrator will need to add the user to the domain.
