The fileserver connector allows you to index the content of files stored on network drives.
Metadata and the document content is stored in the VIA Smart Index, making the files and the content inside the files easily searchable by end-users.

Supported FileServer Versions

A File Server, in this context, is a shared network folder, usually located on a Windows file server.  Other system folder shares are supported, but in order for the security system to fully function, the file share system must use integrated Active Directory security.

The ViaWorks Server can index any shared folder within the same domain as the ViaWorks Server. The file share can be hosted by Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, or Windows Server 2012.

  • A license for the FileServer Connector.

Crawl Methods

Full Crawl: The FileServer Connector supports scheduling periodic full scans of the file shares.

Incremental Crawl: Not supported

DocumentHandler

Required. Enables opening of files and folders.
