MyWorks is an easy to install, lightweight search client for Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista and XP. It makes it easy for users to search for indexed documents, without having to open their web browser.
Single user Installer
- The single-user installer is to be installed by each Locator user.
- See the "MyWorks Client for Windows" page in the User Guide for details.
- Note: The single-user installer does not support command line parameters.
Multi-user Installer
- To accommodate customer environments that restrict end users machine installation, the MyWorks Multi-user Installer is provided for System Administrators so that MyWorks can be deployed centrally.
- You can obtain the latest version of the MyWorks multi-user installer from the ayfie Locator Software Downloads section in the Online Help Center.
- The file "MyWorks_MultiUser.msi" is a UI installer, in the Microsoft installation file format, that will install the MyWorks search client machine wide. It can be customized by adding the following parameters:
APPLICATIONFOLDER - The target directory for the MyWorks search client. This will default to "C:\Program Files\ayfie\MyWorks" for 32-bit OS, and "C:\Program Files (x86)\ayfie\MyWorks\" for 64-bit OS).
ENABLESEARCHBAR - This controls whether or not the search bar widget is visible. It can be set to either true or false (e.g. ENABLESEARCHBAR=false).
- SERVERNAME - The address of the Locator server for which you want the MyWorks client to be configured. This will default to "http://Locator".
Example: msiexec /i MyWorks_MultiUser.msi SERVERNAME=http://mylocatorserver APPLICATIONFOLDER="C:\MyFolder\"
Important Considerations
- Before deploying MyWorks using the MSI, make sure that you remove all traces of the single-user deployment of the product. This means, uninstalling the product on a per user basis. Also, please make sure that if the target directory is set manually for MyWorks, the directory needs to be available machine wide (for all users).
When the multi-user version is uninstalled, it leaves behind a settings.xml file that can cause problems when attempting to re-install EITHER version of MyWorks. This file resides in the "c:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\ayfie\MyWorks\" folder for single-user installations, and in the "c:\ProgramData\ayfie\MyWorks\" folder for multi-user installations. Delete this file and folder AFTER uninstalling MyWorks and BEFORE reinstalling any version of MyWorks.
