The Locator installation guide states the following as one of 4 reasons why a gMSA account is required:
Saga is set up with one or more connectors that access resources over the Windows-based network (for instance by reading files from the disk of another server).
A green icon is used in the table below to indicate the connectors that require a gMSA account:
