Box.com Connector Data Sheet
Release Notes
Box.com Connector Release notes
Released Versions
- SDK 1.5 (Locator 2.9)
- SDK 1.6 (Locator 2.10)
Supported Versions
The latest box.com version as of February 2016.
Limitations
So far the connector only indexes files and folders. Users, groups and collaborations are used for security purposes but are not indexed. Neither are web links and comments.
Custom metadata (a feature reserved to Business Plus, Enterprise and Elite accounts) is also not retrieved.
For authentication, the system uses Active Directory to retrieve email addresses who are then matched against the box.com user base. This only works if:
- The user is part of an active directory
- That active directory is associated with an exchange installation
- The email used on exchange is the one used on Box.com.
This workaround is due to the fact that normal Box.com authentication takes place through its own oAuth based authenticator.
Prerequisites
At connection install time:
- The box.com index user
- Need to be Admin to index all other users. (You could use a Co-Admin, but it will not be able to index other Admins or Co-Admins!)
- An AD-user
- You will need to configure a AD users that will be used to look up primary SMTP address in AD and link them to Box.com users.
At search time: no action is needed, as the user will be authenticated from its AD credentials.
Supported Data Types
The connector supports indexing the following data types:
- File
Crawl Methods
Full Crawl: The ConnectorName Connector supports scheduling periodic full scans of the source system.
